South-West Cross-Country Championships

History: for several years, this event was a five-sided Inter-County Team competition (Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire): when Avon and Gloucestershire were moved into the South-West region, they were included in the contest. In recent years it has been a combination of Inter-Club, Inter-County and Individual competition.

  • The 2025-26 event will be held on Saturday January 3rd, at RNAS Merryfield (near Ilton, Somerset). The Entry Form can be found Here.

  • Note that, following a security issue at the base in 2024, ALL THOSE ATTENDING, whether competitors, parents, volunteers, or whoever, will be required to register their intention to attend. For those bringing athletes, this can be done via the athlete's entry; provision for other attendees will be stated shortly.

  • There are races for Under-11 Boys and Under-11 Girls , but these are not (and never have been) part of the Inter-County competition.

  • London Mini Marathon Teams: with the next full-scale London Marathon being set for April 21st 2024, the next LMM will presumably take place on the same weekend. One or more trial races (dates, formats, venues, and even age-group rules have still to be decided) may be needed for selection purposes.
