South-West Championships

South-West Cross-Country Championships

The 2024-2025 South-West Individual, Inter-Club and Inter-County Cross-Country Championships will be held at RNAS Merryfield on the weekend of 4th/5th January, most probably on the Saturday (depending on RNAS operational requirements).

In recent seasons, the first two finishers in each of the relevant races (U13 / U15 / U17; both genders) received automatic qualification for the South-West team for the next London Mini Marathon. This is under discussion for 2025.

Results from previous seasons can be found at the Results Archive.

South-West Indoor T&F Championships

The South-West has many great features: historic buildings, glorious scenery, impressive beaches, etc. --- but no 200m Indoor Track. In recent seasons, Welsh Athletics Ltd. has kindly agreed to incorporate the SW Indoor Championships in their events at the National Indoor Athletics Arena in Cardiff. The dates for the 2023-24 Indoor season were:

  • U13/U15/U17 Day 1 : Sunday 3rd Dec.
    ..... Results
  •
  • U13/U15/U17 Day 2 : Sunday 7th January.

  • Best SW Performances at Welsh Athletics Senior/U20 Indoor Championships:

Note: the South-West medals at these events are decided by comparing performances of those who declared themselves as eligible for South-West competition. The organisers cannot simply look at club names (e.g. an athlete may have recently moved to the South-West and have not yet established a residential qualification)

Regional and Area Championships

Please Note: Entry in a South-West Championships (a Regional Championship) in any discipline does not prevent an athlete taking part in Midland or Southern Championships events (which are Area Championships).

Athletes or teams from Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire may opt either for Midland Counties AA or South of England AA competitions, but may not compete in both in the same competition year.
