UK Coaching Awards -- Leader

'Leading Athletics' Award
To be eligible? Age 14 or over, and -- er, that's it. You're welcome even if you've never competed in the sport. You will need to go through a DBS check (which is not available for those under 16) before qualifying.
To qualify? This course replaces the 'Athletics Leader' course. You will need to attend a three-hour course (usually 9.00am - 12.00pm) -- there is no assessment.
Who Should Go On This Course?
"Supported by a series of interactive resources, Leading Athletics is perfect for anyone wishing to lead an athletics session. A must for those new to the sport, the resources include information on the roles and responsibilities of a leader, how to lead a fun and inclusive athletics session, and further information on how to develop your leadership skills. Crammed with ‘Top Tips’ for effective delivery, the Support Resource also explores the key principles of running, jumping and throwing events whilst providing technical information which support these principles" (it says on the EA website).
Course Dates: This course is generally set up at the request of clubs or groups of clubs; there may be the occasional course for the general athletics public, such as:

The Cost? A club can request a course for up to 24 candidates at a cost of £550. For individuals, the cost would be £50 (or for an England Athletics affiliated club member, £30. Some clubs may be able to provide financial support.
