Grants For Coaches / Officials?

After looking at its potential sources of income and its likely future expenditure, the Avon AA is able to continue making grants but under these conditions:

  • Who Qualifies?
    • Coaching and officiating course subsidies will be awarded to or in respect of members of an Avon affiliated club when they are registered as having completed the course with England Athletics.
    •
    • The variation for officiating courses is that subsidies are extended to include those who are registered with England Athletics who are Avon based but not specifically attached to an affiliated athletics club. This recognises the support that is provided by those who fully support County Championships as well as club events in the area.
  •
  • Which Courses? The subsidies will only be awarded towards courses leading to coaching and officiating qualifications within the UKA system of progression for coach or officials education.
  •
  • Who do I contact? Those wishing to claim a Subsidy must submit an application on the Official Form to the Avon AA Treasurer. Only claims submitted in the calendar year in which the course attendance commenced will be accepted.

To be practical a claim for courses attended in December will be accepted if received by 31st January.

Claims must be supported by evidence of course details and payment made.
  •
  • When Will the Subsidy Be Paid? A Subsidy will only be paid after the England Athletics coach or officials licence status has been checked to verify course completion. Payments will be made following approval of the claim.
  •
  • The Subsidy Year? The subsidy year will run from 1 January to 31 December.
  •
  • Can Avon Subsidise Everyone? Not necessarily. The total amount of subsidies for the year will be decided at the first Management Committee Meeting in the subsidy year.
  •
  • How Much Will Be Paid? The subsidy for coaching courses will normally be paid at a rate of one-third of the course fee applicable to England Athletics affiliated members. The initial course fee for Officials courses will be paid in full.
